PREPARE (Pandemic Preparedness) Grant

SUMMARY: USAID is launching a coordinated and comprehensive program designed to minimize the impact of specific newly emergent diseases of animal origin, which pose a significant threat to human health and development. This program must be managed by the USAID Avian and Pandemic Influenza Unit. USAID will work closely with international, host governments, USG, and private sector entities to coordinate activities and ensure that USAID’s involvement is consistent with that of the global health community.

SUMMARY: USAID/Ethiopia Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program will operate within the Investing in People objective. The Program will contribute to

improving health by increasing access to safe drinking water and improving sanitation and hygiene practices, in accordance with USAID guidance on the use of

Global Health/Child Survival Funds. This new WASH Program will be a three year program, depending on performance and availability of funding.

Package for Improving Education Quality


SUMMARY: This Package for Improving Education Quality (PIEQ) project aims to train a core group of at least 120 members (40 per province, plus staff from the national government) composed of teachers, headmasters, pedagogical advisors and inspectors and key technical staff from the Ministry of Education (MEPSP); at least half of this core group will be teachers.

Human Resources for Health and Quality Services (HRHQS)

SUMMARY: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Leader with Associates Cooperative Agreement from eligible U.S. for-profit, non-profit, or private voluntary organization for a program titled, “Human Resources for Health and Quality Services (HRHQS).” The authority for the RFA is found in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended. USAID strongly encourages applicants to develop consortiums with other responsible organizations (U.S. or Non-U.S. Organizations). With this RFA, USAID’s objective is to strengthen the human resources needed to implement quality health programs. It will address both the number of healthcare workers needed and the quality and performance of those workers. It will also build capacity in service delivery thereby increasing access to high quality FP/RH, HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB, MCH and other health services while at the same time strengthening the human resource systems necessary to develop, maintain and support the workforce.

International Collaborations in Infectious Disease Research (ICIDR) (U01)

SUMMARY: This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages applications from U.S. institutions proposing collaborative research with foreign [non-U.S.] investigators and organizations to study infectious diseases of the greatest public health significance in resource-constrained countries.This work is expected to increase scientific knowledge on public health related issues, enhance relevant research experience for U.S. and foreign investigators, promote the development of research capacity, and encourage future collaborative relationships.

International Funding Opportunities - September Deadline

Scaling up HIV/AIDS prevention activities for persons engaged in high-risk behavior in Ghana.

SUMMARY: The United States Government, through USAID/Ghana, is seeking from prospective partners, Concept Papers to be followed by full applications (if concept papers are selected) to implement activities to scale up HIV/AIDS prevention activities for persons engaged in high-risk behavior (PEHRB) in Ghana. The USAID/Ghana anticipates awarding a limited number of grants or cooperative agreements (hereinafter called Agreements) for a period of no less than one year and no more than three years. Meanwhile, depending on the successful implementation, needs and availability of funds, the period of performance could be extended by one or two additional years.

Global Food Security Response: Africa Action Plan

SUMMARY: The purpose of this Annual Program Statement (APS) is to publish information
about the intention of USAID’s Bureau for Africa to fund proposals to contribute to the
objectives of the Global Food Security Response through forming public-private and/or
private-private alliances to support the development of effective staple food
value-chains in West Africa. This APS provides prospective recipients with an
opportunity to develop and submit applications for U.S. Agency of International
Development (USAID) funding in the area of Economic Growth focused on increasing food
security. This APS describes the strategy, the APS application process, the criteria for
evaluating applications, and information on administration of awards and point of
contract.

Grants Address Hunger Issues Worldwide
Presbyterian Hunger Program


SUMMARY: The Presbyterian Hunger Program provides grants to programs addressing hunger and its causes in the
United States and around the world. Priority is given to organizations that attempt to change the root causes of hunger. Grants are provided in the following five categories: Direct Relief grants support programs that provide food relief to poor people. Development Assistance grants focus on developing a multi-faceted approach to development and the empowerment of poor people. Influencing Public Policy grants encourage activities that advocate for political and/or economic policy changes which provide food for the poor. Lifestyle Integrity grants target programs that assist the church to move toward sustainable lifestyles sensitive to the reality of the earth's limited resources. Education and Interpretation grants promote activities to educate the church and the public at large about the root causes of hunger.

DEADLINE: Applications for domestic grants are due May 31 and October 31, annually. International grant requests may be submitted at any time.
