The Laura Bush Foundation For American Libraries

SUMMARY: In order to promote a love of reading, the goal of the Laura Bush Foundation (LBF) is to provide books to the school libraries and students that most need them. Consequently, funds are available only for library books and magazine/serial copies and subscriptions. Because research demonstrates a clear relationship between family income and a student’s access to books, the LBF gives selection preference to schools in which 90% or more of the students receive free or reduced lunches (FRL) and are likely to have the fewest books at home.

Contextual Approaches to Prevention of Unintended Pregnancy

SUMMARY: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to strengthen and revitalize scientific research on the prevention of unintended pregnancies in the United States. The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) invites R01 research grant applications that will inform interventions addressing the cultural and structural factors that produce high rates of unintended pregnancy across the reproductive age span, especially in low-income populations in the United States. These interventions can operate at a wide range of levels, from clinical interventions to interventions that influence cultural, economic, social, structural, and/or policy factors contributing to unintended pregnancy.

Angler Education Outreach


SUMMARY: Each year ODNR budgets significant funds to be awarded as Aquatic Education Subsidy Grants including “Hooked on Fishing-Not on Drugs” and Angler Education Outreach grants.

Funds for Mathematics Mentoring in U.S. and Canada
Actuarial Foundation: Advancing Student Achievement

SUMMARY: Advancing Student Achievement, an initiative of the Actuarial Foundation, awards grants to schools and groups throughout the United States and Canada for programs that involve actuaries in the teaching of mathematics. The initiative brings together actuaries and educators in local classrooms (grades 4-12) with the belief that interaction with real-world mentors will boost students' interest in math. Applicants for grants will be given wide latitude in designing programs that create a “love of math” in each student. The Foundation can provide a local network of actuaries ready to participate, as well as suggestions on how to integrate math concepts from the workplace into the classroom.

Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP)

SUMMARY: This "mini-grant" is designed to help fund programs that support grandparents and other family members that have taken the role of primary caregiver due to absence of the child's parents.

SUMMARY:
Pioneer Hi-Bred International's Community Investment Program supports efforts to improve the quality of life in the communities where the company's customers and employees live and work throughout the United States.

ELIGIBILITY: The company focuses its grantmaking in the following areas: education, with an emphasis on science; agriculture; and farm safety. Priority is given to nonprofit organizations located in Pioneer facility communities or rural agricultural regions. Organizations with active Pioneer employee participation and company-related expertise receive priority consideration.

Support for Progressive Social Programs
RGK Foundation

SUMMARY:
The RGK Foundation strives to advance knowledge, improve society, and help realize human potential by providing support to nonprofit organizations throughout the United States that offer innovative programs in three main categories. The Foundation's primary interests in the Education category include programs that focus on K-12 education (particularly mathematics, science, and reading), teacher development, literacy, and higher education. In the category of Medicine/Health, the Foundation's interests include programs that promote the health and well-being of children and programs that increase access to health services. The Community category targets a broad range of human services, community improvement, abuse prevention, and youth development programs.

IBM Community Relations Workforce Development Grants

SUMMARY: IBM Community Relations supports technology's important role in adult education and job training. The IBM Foundation helps job seekers secure and retain employment by providing hand-on experience with today's technologies.

ELIGIBILITY: IBM only considers requests submitted by organizations which have a tax-exempt classification under Sections 170(c) or 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Priority is assigned to requests involving IBM technology or the volunteer efforts of our employees.

Rosie's For All Kids Foundation - Early Education Grants

SUMMARY: Early Childhood Care and Education grants support direct-service organizations throughout the contiguous United States. First priority is given to experienced, community-based programs serving children in low-income, major urban areas, where many families struggle to find affordable, high-quality early education and care. Grants focus on tuition subsidies, small renovations, equipment upgrades, playground construction, and staff development opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY: The foundation awards grants only to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping low-income children and their families through quality child care and early childhood education curricula.

AWARD: The grant range is $15,000 to $30,000. The number of organizations the foundation is able to support depends upon budget restrictions and fundraising successes.

DEADLINE: Letters of intent are accepted on a rolling basis.



Ohio State Bar Foundation Grant

SUMMARY: Grants are given in three funding categories and are to meet the foundations mission. The three categories are: Short term Project-Based funding, Long-Term Partnerships/ Alliances and Capacity building.

ELIGIBILITY: The Ohio State Bar Foundation strives to be a catalyst, convener and collaborator in promoting public understanding of the law and improvements in the justice system throughout Ohio and funding those organizations to follow this mission.

DEADLINE: The Foundation's Trustees consider proposals twice each year. February 15 and August 15.

SUMMARY: The Hitachi Foundation funds projects that strengthen corporate citizenship, including programs that support workforce development. The Foundation focuses on partnerships that enable economically isolated people to retain and advance in their jobs, earn living wages, and accumulate savings and assets. The actions and interaction of business and community are fundamental to this goal.

SUMMARY: The Northrop Grumman Foundation's purpose is to provide support for education opportunities to our nation's youth. The foundation is committed to supporting diverse and sustainable programs that create innovative education opportunities. Our priority is to provide assistance to literacy, math, science, and technology programs spanning pre-college through collegiate levels.

ELIGIBILITY: The Northrop Grumman Foundation contributes to organizations defined as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service. Proposals should address education-related initiatives that promote the advancement of literacy, math, science, and technology.

SUMMARY: The following types of grants for K-12 public schools will be considered by the Foundation: Teacher excellence programs that improve teacher quality; Service-Learning programs that integrate core classroom curriculum with service to the community; Programs that incorporate the Systemic Improvement criteria into education systems to improve overall effectiveness. ELIGIBILITY: The State Farm Companies Foundation makes charitable contributions to nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations under Section 501(c) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, Canadian charitable organizations, and educational institutions. In general, grants are awarded for specific programs in the giving categories described above rather than for one-time events or capital campaigns.

The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation

SUMMARY: The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation provides funding to a wide variety of programs for students and teachers, from preschool through high school. Some preference is given to programs that target under-served student populations and districts with fewer available resources. Funding is particularly given in the following areas: improving learning in math, science, technology, language literacy and the arts, supporting the recruitment, retention and development of teachers, strengthening teachers’ and administrators’ leadership skills and providing other services to students.

ELIGIBILITY: Grants are available to serve any public school district, non-religious private school, or tax-exempt organization that assists elementary and secondary schools in Ohio.

DEADLINE: Applications should be received by the 20th of the month preceding the month in which they are to be considered (note: the Board does not meet in February, July, October or December).



Educational Foundation of America (EFA)

SUMMARY: EFA exists to improve individuals' lives and their surroundings through education and awareness, in hopes of bettering humanity and the world we inhabit. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the environment, the crisis of human overpopulation and reproductive freedom, Native Americans, arts, education, medicine, and human services.

ELIGIBILITY: EFA makes grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations that have tax-exempt status and those that are not private foundations as defined in the Internal Revenue Code. EFA provides grants for specific projects. It does not provide funds for endowment or endowed faculty chairs, building/capital programs, religious purposes, grants to individuals, annual fund-raising campaigns, indirect costs, overhead, or general support.

SUMMARY: Applications for grants to support young musicians. The Melody Program, the Projects Program, and the Solo Program provide musical instruments and instruments repair kindergarten through 12th grade music programs, community art schools, after-school programs, youth orchestras, as well as outstanding individual musicians in need of instruments.

SUMMARY: Grants support public school teachers, public education support professionals, and/or faculty and staff in public institutions of higher education for one of the following two purposes: 1) Grants to individuals fund participation in high-quality professional development experiences, such as summer institutes or action research. 2) Grants to groups fund collegial study, including study groups, action research, lesson study, or mentoring experiences for faculty or staff new to an assignment.
