Kasich Announces Appointment to the Butler County Court of Common Pleas February 24, 2016 COLUMBUS – Today Governor John R. Kasich announced the appointment of Gregory S. Stephens of Hamilton (Butler Co.) to serve as a judge on the Butler County Court of Common Pleas. Stephens will assume office on March 14, 2016 and must run in the November 2016 general election to retain the seat for the full term commencing January 2, 2017. Stephens is replacing Judge Patricia S. Oney, who retired. Stephens received his bachelor’s degree in business finance from Miami University in 1991 and his juris doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1995. Stephens has served as an assistant county prosecutor for Butler County since 1997. Stephens served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in 2012 and is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Butler County Bar Association and the National District Attorneys Association.
