Kasich Asks General Assembly To Convene In Sandusky For State Of The State Address February 13, 2017 COLUMBUS – In preparation for his annual State of the State address, Governor John R. Kasich sent a letter to the General Assembly requesting a joint session in Sandusky at 7 p.m. on April 4, 2017 at the Sandusky State Theatre. “Lake Erie has always held a special place in my heart, dating back to wonderful vacations I enjoyed there as a child. The towns and cities along the lake’s coastline – like Sandusky – are important parts of our state and our tourism industry,” said Governor John Kasich. “Holding the State of the State address in Sandusky, on the shore of Ohio’s Great Lake, will be the perfect opportunity to show off our state’s crown jewel.” This proposal to convene the General Assembly in Sandusky marks the sixth year in a row that Kasich has asked to hold State of the State outside of the Ohio Statehouse. In previous years the governor has delivered his address in Steubenville, Lima, Medina, Wilmington and Marietta. A copy of the governor’s letter to the General Assembly can be read here.
