Columbus, Ohio – Ohio Governor Ted Strickland announced today the appointments of William Mallory to the 1st District Court of Appeals and Robert Peeler to the Warren County Common Pleas Court.

William L. Mallory, 51, of Cincinnati, fills the seat that will be vacated by the retirement of Judge Mark Painter on September 4.
“William has shown a sincere desire to serve his community throughout his professional career,” Strickland said. “His experiences as a judge in Hamilton County for the past 15 years bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the 1st District Court of Appeals.”
Mallory will take the bench on September 4. To retain the seat, he must run in the November 2010 general election.
Mallory has served as a judge for the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas since 2007. He previously served as a judge for the Hamilton County Municipal Court from 1994-2007. Mallory also served as an adjunct professor for the Salmon P. Chase College of Law from 1997-2000 and as an attorney for the law firm of Kircher and Phalen from 1989-1993.
Mallory is also an active member of his community. He serves as a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He previously served as a board member for the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati and for the Greater Cincinnati Health Foundation Fund. Mallory also serves as a member of the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association.
“This appointment gives me the great opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Hamilton County,” Mallory said.
Mallory received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 and a law degree from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1986.
Robert Peeler, Warren County Common Pleas Court
Robert Peeler, 56, of Lebanon, fills the seat vacated by the death of Judge James Heath.
“Through his work as a prosecuting attorney and private attorney, Robert has demonstrated a work ethic and professionalism that will continue to serve the people of Warren County well,” Strickland said.
Peeler will take the bench on September 4. To retain the seat, he must run in the November 2010 general election.
Peeler has served as the prosecuting attorney for the City of Mason and Deerfield Township since 1984. He also served as an attorney for the law firm of Peeler, McGary & Zopff since 1982.
Peeler is also an active member of his community. He serves as a moderator for the People’s Law School in Mason. He previously served as trustee for the Ohio Association for Justice from 1992-1994 and as the president of the Warren County Chapter of the Vietnam-era Veterans of America .
“I am honored to accept this appointment from Governor Strickland and I look forward to serving the people of Warren County and dutifully carrying out the responsibilities of this position,” Peeler said.
Peeler received a bachelor’s degree from the Murray State University in 1979 and a law degree from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1982.
