Kasich Picks Porter to Chair Public Utilities Commission of Ohio

COLUMBUS - Today Gov. John R. Kasich named Andre T. Porter of Gahanna (Franklin Co.) to serve as chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).

Porter will succeed current PUCO Chairman Thomas W. Johnson who announced on March 30, 2015 his decision to step down as chairman but remain on the Commission.

On February 20, 2015, Kasich appointed Porter to the PUCO for a five-year term starting April 11, 2015.

Porter has served as director of the Ohio Department of Commerce since 2013. He previously served as a member of the PUCO from 2011 to 2013 and as an attorney in private practice focusing on energy, public utilities and real estate law. He is a former member of the Gahanna City Council and the former president of the Gahanna Community Improvement Corporation.

Porter received his bachelor's degree from Capital University and his juris doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
